Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe a month has already come and gone so quickly! Ms. Lindsay and I would like to thank you all for your involvement and support as we settled into our roles here at Blue Quill Playschool.

This upcoming month, we will be exploring a theme that I am very passionate about: Health & Nutrition. Now that we have had our fill of Halloween treats, we will learn about the human body, work together to build on our healthy habits (from keeping active, to brushing our teeth, and eating a well-balanced diet) and try out some healthful recipes. For years, I have been hearing Madame Louise rave about the Bread Lady In School Field Trip. I am so looking forward to having her visit our classes and spend some time guiding the children through making their very own bread!

Worked into the Health and Nutrition theme will also be opportunity to buy healthy groceries in our Dramatic Play center, plant and tend to our very own mini pumpkin patch at our Science Centre, sort fruits and veggies by color at our Math Centre, and more.

Mid-month, our focus will shift from eating the rainbow to eating the alphabet! We will begin to introduce the letters of the alphabet through stories such as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, puzzles and letter recognition games. We will also focus on recognizing and writing the first letters of our names and tracing all the letters of our names. If you would like to practice your letters at home, there are some great age appropriate games at in the Pre K section.
At the beginning of the month, we will be posting a Casino Volunteer Sheet inside the classroom. Please be sure to come in and pick out your position for the fundraiser. Please note that not everyone will get their most desired position, and priority has been given to board members based on the number of hours they put into the volunteer roles. That being said, you are always welcome to contact other parents and trade spots!

Looking forward to another great month together,

Ms. Sarah & Ms. Lindsay
