Hello Parents,

Thank you all for another fun-filled month. We had so much fun looking at the different signs of spring and getting to know the different kinds of dinosaurs.

This month we will be taking a close look at what it means to be a mom. Our Dramatic Play Center will be set up in a way that will allow for role playing of parenthood. We will also have games and activities set up around the classroom that will be designed to spark a conversation around what makes our moms so special and why we are so lucky to have the moms that we do.

Moms, we are so looking forward to having you come in for our Mother’s Day Celebrations on May 11 & 12!
Ms. Leslie will be helping us make sure it is a fun-filled celebration to remember. Please refer to the invitation that has come home with your child. In order to keep our parties nice and intimate, we have split our classes into 2 groups. Some of us will be having tea before the musical portion of our party, others will stay for tea afterwards. Please be sure to bring a fancy hat for you and your child for this event, and let us know if you will not be able to attend!

Towards the end of the month, we will begin to look at the life cycle of Butterflies. We will be fortunate enough to have real caterpillars in our classroom so that we can see firsthand the transitions that they go through while they grow into beautiful butterflies! As we explore this theme, we will have plenty of games and puzzles set up to help develop our understanding of the different stages of metamorphosis and work on our fine and gross motor skills.

As the weather begins to warm up, we will continue to strive for more time together on the playground. We would like very much to work more structured physical play into our days, and are looking forward to do so under the bright and shiny sun!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us any time at teacher@bluequillplayschool.ca or call or text us at (780) 438 – 1491.
