January & February 2015 Newsletter

Thank you to all our families for the overwhelming response for donations of outdoor clothes for less fortunate children. All was donated to the White Cloud Head Start Program in West Edmonton. They were thrilled to receive our huge donation just before Christmas.

Valentine's Day is just around the courner. It certainly is not necessary to have your children bring cards for their friends. If you do choose to send cards, may we please suggest that you simply have your child sign their name and not address each individual card to each friend. This simplifies and shortens the passing out process (there are 21 children in each class).

In mid-February one of our themes will be family. Each child will be asked to bring in a photo collection of their family. The catch is that this collection must be affixed to a kleenex box (don't empty the box). Use photocopies of the pictures and then cover all with packing tape to keep all intact. We have packing tape in the classroom that you can use. A sample box is also available in the classroom. If all goes according to plan, we will have 42 new building blocks in our classroom!!! I have done this project in the past and it was amazing to see the conversation and pride these blocks created.

No school on the following days:
- Monday, February 16th for Family Day
- Thursday and Friday, February 26th and 27th for Teacher's Convention

Giving you some advance notice that each class will be going to John Janzen Nature Centre for a field trip on Monday, March 9th and Tuesday March 10th. We will be asking the parents to drive the children to the centre and we will be needing some parents to help us with the field trip.

Don't forget pre registration for next school year takes place the last week of January.

Thank you for your continuing enthusiam and cooperation,

Louise
