Dear Parents,

Welcome back! Thank you so much for your generosity over the
holidays. It really helped make the time so special. We hope you all
had a wonderful break with your families, and that you are feeling
refreshed and ready to take on the new year.

We had a lot of excitement over the course of December, and
are looking forward to settling back into our regular classroom
routine again. At the beginning of the month we will take the time
to review our classroom etiquette and what it means to play
safe and be a good friend at school.

Once we are settled, we will explore our Polar Animal theme. We
will take a close look at Penguins & Polar Bears, and have lots of
opportunity to get to know what life on the North and South
poles is like. Our dramatic play center will be turned into a snow
cave to help us role play what we learn. We will have lots of polar
animal-themed cutting and coloring activities, and even get to see
how tall we are compared to the 17 different species of penguins!
Later in the month, we will shift our focus to outer space. We will
take a look at different planets, play with a few new painting
techniques to create our own galaxies, and even make some
delicious and nutritious space-themed popsicles. This will be a
welcome example of the science of freezing and melting that we
introduced in the Polar Animals unit.

Since the weather decided not to cooperate with our plans for
our last Fire Drill, we are going to try for another one again! On
the 26th and 27th, please be sure to send your child to school with
all of their outdoor play gear. Weather permitting, we will do our
fire drill and then take the time to play in the snow together! This
will be an outdoor dismissal day.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child
or anything we are up to at school, please feel free to contact

Warmest wishes to you all, and Happy New Year!

Ms. Sarah & Ms. Lindsay
