Dear Parents,

Another busy and exciting month is upon us! This upcoming month will be filled with projects designed to cultivate a generous holiday spirit and compassion for people in our community. Every year, Blue Quill Playschool collects donations for local charities. This year, we will be supporting two local charities who are both in great need: the Edmonton Foodbank & Hope Mission. For the Foodbank, we will be collecting any nonperishable food items. For Hope Mission, we will be collecting any warm and fuzzy donations you can think of: socks, mittens, scarves, and hats. You are welcome to make a contribution to one or both, but only as much as you are comfortable sharing. I am so excited to see what kind of a positive impact we can all make in our community!

The holidays are a great time for us to continue working on spelling our names, and even spelling or tracing small words such as L-o-v-e, or M-o-m and D-a-d. We will have a holiday card writing station, and we will also be sticking gift tags onto the donations we make.

On December 8 & 9, we are planning to hold a fire drill. On these days, weather pending, we would also like to spend some time playing outside together. Please be sure to send all appropriate gear to ensure your little one can stay warm while we play. Please take the time to have conversations at home about fire safety. We will explore this concept further as a class later in the new year. On December 14 & 15, we will be making healthy green waffles and decorating them like Christmas trees. In order to continue our discussions on healthy habits and healthful eating, we will be making snacks together once every month for the rest of the year. These special days are a great opportunity to encourage your children to try nutritious new treats, and to work together to make something very rewarding. We will be sure to post lots of pictures afterwards!

The details of our Christmas Parties will be put together by our wonderful Christmas Party Committee. We will happily keep you posted on more details as they unfold. Towards the middle of the month, we will post up a Snack Volunteer Form as well. Thank you in advance for all of your wonderful contributions! These parties will be taking place in our gym, so there will be plenty of room for any siblings who would like to join us.

Ms. Lindsay and I are really looking forward to wrapping up the month with a PJs & Popcorn Party with each of the classes! Classes will resume Monday, January 9.

Ms. Sarah
